"I am now the same person as I was when I was 5 years old"
I happen to disagree with this statement, as a 5 year old I was naive to the world around me, I did not understand danger and that people in the world would want to hurt another, or even myself. I was quite adventurous as well. I would climb to the top of monkey bars and jump down not being afraid of hurting myself, and I would fight with my brothers knowing that my parents wouldn't get mad at me, but rather them. But now looking back as an 18 year old I understand things about the world that I could never have fathomed as a 5 year old. I now understand that people can be dangerous and that I need to be cautious around strangers. I cannot trust everyone I meet because they may not always have good intentions. And just as I have grown, my vocabulary has as well, since I now understand what the "bad words" are. While I still may be the sweet little girl to my parents, they know that I will be moving on and they too realize that their little 5 year old girl is now a completely different 18 year old, who is ready to go out into the world, rather than hold my parents hands as I cross the street.
I also disagree with this statement. It is because when one is 5 years old, they don't have much experience, and they respond based on what they know and/or understand. When we mature, we know and understand a lot more than when we were 5 years old. This allows us to comprehend what goes on in our life, and understand what has happened to us while we were growing up.
